Aspirations

After today's lecture, I was thinking about who I aspire to be like the most, and I guess if I could be like anyone, it would be Seth MacFarlane.

His Family Guy series and Cavalcade of Cartoons are just the sort of humour that appeals to me. The "I don't give a shit" adult humour approach really speaks to me and I try to get that across in some of my work. In various episodes of Pumpkin and Cucumber that me and my friend have made, we just do what we want to do, and don't really care about the end results, as long as the content is good, we know the outcome will be funny to us, and this is exactly what Seth MacFarlane works towards. If he likes it, it sticks.

Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy

Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane, has crashed into the advertising world with his brand new short clip comedy sketches.

Written and produced in the same style as the hit TV show, Family Guy, MacFarlane has managed to tackle the advertising world head on and has made adverts seem fun and exciting through the use of pure humour.

Not all of MacFarlane's videos will appeal to everyone, but if you "get" Family Guy, you'll no doubt love and enjoy his short comedic sketches, including characters such as Mr and Mrs Sticknipples and an Angry Scottsman.

I think the appeal of the videos is that the comedy is so "normal". In many of the sketches, you can imagine having the same conversation, but it's just because MacFarlane takes these situations a step further that they really become entertainment, and if these situations are so normal, surely we're just laughing at ourselves?
